Rockin' J Longhorns is located in the gently rolling hills and plains of north central Kansas, just outside the small town of Downs. We are twenty miles straight south of the geographic center of the United States, and are eight miles west of the Waconda Springs. Our longhorn journey began in the spring of 2004 with the purchase of three longhorn heifers. We decided right from the start to have quality over quantity and to breed for the "Total Package", Horns, color, conformation and disposition.

Trail Dust 40
DOB: 01/03/04
Sire: Hunts Command Respect
(75 3/8" T2T 5-time Showcase Champion)
Dam: Saw Dust
(mid 70's T2T @ 5 years old)
99 1/4" Total - 69 1/4" T2T - 15 1/8" Base
Here is the bull we have all been waiting for. Trail Dust 40 is the longest horned son of Hunts Command Respect in the breed and the 3rd longest horned bull in the world. He was measured at an unbelievable 97 1/4" total horn at only four years and ten days old witnessed by five people. Many feel he is the most complete son of his famous 5-time Horn Showcase Champion sire, Hunts Command Respect.
His sire is over 75 3/8" T2T and his dam is in the mid 70's T2T at only five years old. His dam is a daughter of Chuckwagon by a daughter of Roundup making him one of the best bred bulls in the industry. With owning the 3-time Horn Showcase Champion bull, Bar B Q, we were looking for a bull to put on his daughters that would produce a HORN explosion. We looked at every bloodline and soon found out the best bull to cross on Roundup would have to be Hunts Command Respect. We set out on a long and hard search to find the best son and know we have found him. Owen McGill’s breeding program has produced some of the best horned bulls and heifers in the industry and we feel very honored to own two great Herd Sires from his program.
Trail Dust has a beautiful smoky/blue color that he passes on to his huge horned calves that are very sought after. Look for the first Bar B Q / Trail Dust crossed calves in the fall of '08.

Bar B Q
DOB: 06/05/99
Roundup x Teriyaki
95 1/8" Total - 69 3/4" T2T - 16 ½" Base
02, 03, 04 Horn Showcase Champion
We think in our humble opinion that Bar B Q is one of, if not the best son of Roundup in service today. And that he is one of the best horn producing Longhorn bulls in the industry. This bull can throw HORN!!! Four year old daughters with over 70" T2T and over 85" total. He has three year old daughters with over 65" T2T and over 75" total. He has two year olds with over 60" T2T and has yearlings over 50" T2T. He has some awesome sons also. One of his daughters named, Bar BQ's Maiden had over 57 1/2" T2T at 25 months old and sold at the 2007 Select Heifer Sale for $30,500.
This Owen McGill bred bull produces it all. Bar B Q is a 3-time Horn Showcase Champion as well. We are breeding him to some of our top foundation cows this year and already have some awesome calves on the ranch with a full calf crop hitting the ground now.

S&L’s Tammy Fay
Over 64" T2T |
S&L’s Tammy Fay is one of the prettiest cows you will find in the breed. She has beautiful color, stunning horns (over 64" T2T) and great conformation. The thing we really like about her is she can produce horn! She had a 2003 daughter that was a Cash Cow in ‘06 and her ‘07 bull is on his way to becoming a great Herd Sire. We think she had the best calf ever this year with Bar B Q. Check out her beautiful colored Bar B Q heifer calf on our website www.RockinJLonghorns.com.

Look at all the horn on this young cow. She is one of our top cows here at RJL and we want to thank Bill Hudson for making this fine cow available to us. Nugget is on her way to the high 70's or 80's T2T. We plan to put Nugget in our Embryo Transfer program with Bar B Q & Trail Dust.

BBQ Miss Fancy is the kind of heifer that everyone would like to have in their pasture. She is a great example of what Bar B Q can do. She has beautiful color, flat horn and great conformation. She is bred to Trail Dust, the longest horned son of Hunts Command Respect, for a fall ‘08 calf. Just think of the HORN explosion we are going to get out of this cross.
