The Jones Ranch has had a progressive breeding program for 26 years using the best bulls we could afford on a "closed" herd. We raise gentle, Front Pasture cattle with terrific horns.
Many Gunman progeny have been sold over the years; most will mature at over 60" of tip to tip horn. Many of these bulls have been A.I. certified.
K. C. Just Respect comes from the fine herd of Kent and Christine Bladen. We are pleased to bring Doug Hunt's genetics to our herd through K.C. Just Respect. We bred him to about a dozen heifers in '06; We like his calves and he is our senior sire for '07.
On 11-07-07, Horn Showcase weekend he measured 67.875"ttt @ 29.9 months! His horn base measured 15.75"! If our truck hadn't broken down he would have won his class! Take a close look at his calves...and most of our females are bred to him for a big crop of calves by this outstanding bull for '08! Picture taken on 11/09/07

JR Premium was bred by Tommie Peterson of Buffalo, MO. He was then sold to Ron and Elaine Nederhoff of Earlham, IA as a calf. We purchased him from Ron and Elaine at the Horn Showcase in November 2003 where he placed 3rd in his class.
He is a strongly bred Butler blend bull that we think will cross with our Gunman blend cattle. He is very gentle and a very efficient breeder. At 24 months he measured 60.5" tip to tip and at 34 months of age, measured 66.5" tip to tip.
We have recently sold him to Aubrey Herring of Heavener, Ok. Aubrey took home the bronze (first place)with Premium at the 2007 Horn Showcase!

Most of our cow herd is by Gunman who is by G-Man out of Sizzle (by Senator). Many of them go back to Bail Jumper, JR Rangago, Zhivago, Overwhelmer, Royal Spice and Bold Ruler.
JR Gandi, shown here (age 28 months in photo) in front of her mother, JR Dandi, is another great double bred Gunman heifer. She is another typical JR Grand Slam (by Gunman) daughter - HUGE horns!

JR Gleeful (shown here with her Blue Chip son, JR Blue Blood) is another great Gunman daughter. She won first in her class at both shows and was Reserve Grand Champion Overall in a show in Utah. She was chosen Grand Champion Overall Female at the 2003 Heart of the Rockies Show!
JR Gleeful measured 68.8" tip to tip at 8 years of age. She should reach 70" by 10th birthday! Her FULL sister, JR JoyAnn reached 70" at only 7 years old!!
We sold JR Gleeful at the 2004 Horn Showcase Sale as Lot #1 to Joe and Lorinda Valentine for $15,000!

In 1999, GUNMAN was chosen by the longhorn industry as THE bull that would increase the value of any offspring of or cow bred to him. This nationwide survey was conducted by the Texas Longhorn Journal.
It has now been determined that Gunman has tied with Emperor for having sired the 2nd most big horned sons and daughters of all the other great herd sires. They were bested by the long-lived Phenomenon. These results were determined through several years of statistics collected by the Texas Longhorn Journal.
To properly understand the gravety of this achievement by Gunman, one has to realize that Phenomenon was born in 1983 and Emperor in 1988. Both were used on at least 2 of the top herds in the world for many years. Also, thousands of units of their semen was used on some of the best cows in the world.
Gunman was born in 1993 and used only 3 years on our small herd. We had only 1 cow with over 50" horns at the time. We have built our herd upon GUNMAN genetics.
We welcome you to visit us and see what Gunman genetics can do for your herd!
