In 1996, we purchased 2 cows and a heifer to begin our longhorn herd. Today, we are running roughly 160 head, and most of our mature cows are daughters or granddaughters of Overwhelmer, Bail Jumper, and Abraham.
|
We initially bred primarily for size, color and conformation, but over the last several years, we have begun to stress horn length and have seen a significant and rapid improvement in our herd already.
CAPONE gave our herd a great jumpstart in the horn department. We sold him after three breeding seasons, but have retained 40 of his daughters and several of his sons, who can be seen on our website. |
Capone (73.5" ttt at age 6) |
|
We currently have at least a dozen bulls that are either over 60" ttt or project to have over 60" horns at maturity. Several of them are for sale and can be found on our website.
Two of our young bulls, PCC Maneuver and SSR Zorro, project to have76" and 71" horns at maturity, respectively. We are very excited about them and our other herd sires, including Winner's Edge and Undeniable, (two fine young Winchester sons), Comanche (a straight Butler bull with 64" horns), and our sons of Capone and 70" Crown's Classic Shadow.

Winner's Edge (4/23/03)
Winchester x Queen of Not
Edge's parents are each over 70" ttt. We love his color and have been very pleased with his first two calf crops. He broke off both horn tips at a young age, which is
odd since his horns are very thick. |
SSR Zorro (7/9/05)
SSR Taz x SSR Texas Lilly
We recently added Zorro to our herd and hope he will
be our next 70" herd sire. His horns measured 53" on 6/23/07 (projecting to 71.16"). We love his color and conformation as well. |

Here is a sample of our younger cows - many more can be found on our web site...
