Once upon a time, there was a woman with big dreams to own a herd of beautiful Texas Longhorns. She said that she would like to have either a couch or a cow for Christmas. Well, I never did get a couch, but I still have the wonderful cow herd that started with just one Christmas present back in 1986.
Much water has run under the bridge since then, but I never tire of walking through the herd and admiring their grace and beauty. Among them, all worries seem to disappear, and a sense of peace takes over.
Each spring is like Christmas and Easter combined, with new calves coming - never knowing exactly what to expect or what color you'll find!

We have been using Alter Boy as our purebred herd sire. He's done such a wonderful job for us, that he has worked himself out of a job!
Since I'm an A.I. technician, we also take advantage of using semen from bulls such as J.K. Creekmore, Widespread, J.B. Abraham, G-Man, and many others.

We strive for the total package of deep-bodied, GENTLE cows with outstanding udders who  will produce a whopper calf for us year after year. We sold my first registered cow last year, which was a very hard decision, as she was like a member of the family. She was 16 and still had the same perfect udder as when she was 3. We have many of her daughters in our herd and they all have the same perfect udder as her.

We have been having tremendous success with our crossbreeding program. We use an Angus/Simmental cross bull on some of our cows and the results have been above our expectations. We love the vigor and growth of the 3-way cross and have kept some of the heifers in our herd. They are making wonderful, thick-bodied mothers with the characteristics of our beloved Texas Longhorn mothers.
We sell some of the bulls and retain some steers for our beef customers. Some love the 100% Longhorn beef, while others prefer the crossbred beef. But ALL of our customers are repeats since there's nothing like "fresh off the ranch" beef, with no added hormones or drugs.
