In March of 2000, I purchased my first Longhorn cow. Little did I realize, one cow was soon three, then eight, then, everyone with Longhorns understands where I am going with this. Longhorns turn into a passion.

The cattle we raise must meet certain criteria. 1. Disposition. As I work all the cattle by myself, they must be easy to handle. 2. Conformation. My grandfather raised me on a registered Hereford ranch. He wouldn't settle for a cow with less than perfect conformation. I believe he would approve of the conformation of our herd. 3. Horns. We all want our cattle to have long horns. After all, horn sells.

We raise longhorns because they are intelligent, unique, colorful, and interesting animals. My real job doesn't allow for a lot of extra time, so the easy maintenance Longhorn fits the bill.
