Canyon Cowgirl

 

Affectionately known as 'Grandma', this is the matriarch of our herd, the boss and the leader to the feeders.  She will out produce herself every time.  (She is also the mother of Max's Cowgirl on the ranch tour page).  She is a great older cow, calm and quiet.  She stays in good shape all year round and has a pretty brindle coat. She had a late summer heifer this year that we lost to an infection.

She was previously owned by Larry Long of 7 Lazy S Longhorns. When we bought her, he said that Prairie Canyon Ranch had two bulls that were either full brothers or father and son (I can’t remember), they got out and bred the herd, thus her sire is stated as Prairie Canyon Ranch Longhorn.

She has been exposed to Radigan for a late summer 2007 calf. (See him on our ranch page.) We are expecting great things from Radigan and have been very impressed with the calves he has thrown.
